30 Days of Photography - Day 23

The theme for Day 23 was sunflare. I had high hopes for taking some shots today, seeing as it was a gorgeous, sunny day in Melbourne. Buuuuuut we had a bunch of people over this afternoon, and I a) got distracted helping with the cooking, and b) flat out forgot. FAIL.

Thankfully, I remembered that I took a bunch of photos on a bushwalk we did way back at the start of September that I never showed you guys, so here:

I'm kind of obsessed with taking photos of dead trees. Dead trees are to me what abandoned houses are to Katie - kryptonite. I could quite happily fill entire memory cards with pictures of dead trees. I think I just like the textures of them!

  1. So pretty. So very, very pretty. And I'm with you on the dead trees thing...they're just so haunting and cool and creepy and beautiful, all at once. Huh. (And yes, today's weather was mmmmmm. Sunilicious!) xoxo

    1. I once saw a dead tree that looked like an angry octopus. That one was mostly just cool ;) xx

  2. We should totally do a companion series of coffee table books - dead trees and abandoned houses would go together perfectly!

    1. Absolutely!! When I was working at the museum, I went on a location shooting trip with one of the staff photographers. I kept taking photos of dead trees out the window of the car, and he was like "...You *really* like dead trees, huh?" Yes. Yes, I do.

  3. Dead trees have a unique charm. I love to capture them too :) I have tried to do the 'a photo a day' but since moving back home, I have miserably failed at it :-/ Maybe next year? We'll see.

    1. The 30 Days of Photography challenge was designed to be a photo a day. I've now dragged it out to over a YEAR. Well done, me. Well done.
