Community

I mentioned last week that I've been watching Community recently. After months of seeing Kim tweet about it, I figured I'd add it to my Quickflix queue and see what all the fuss was about.

Yeah, I'm already up to season 2, and I only started watching it last week.

Due to the fact that I've used up all of my creativity on essays, I hereby present you with a list.

Fifteen reasons why you should be watching Community (based solely on season 1):
1. The paintball episode.
Source
2. Troy and Abed rapping in Spanish.

3. Joel McHale.
Source
4. Senor Chang.
Source
5. Everyone taking the piss out of Vaughn.
Source
6. Shirley.
Source
7. The dean.
Source
8. The episode where Britta drunk dials Jeff, and he decides that he'll do the same to her to make things less weird.
Source
9. Pierce.
Source
10. Hell, Troy and Abed full stop.
Source
11. Annie.
Source
12. Starburns.
Source
13. Fighting with high schoolers.
Source
14. Baggles.

15. ALL THE REASONS.

Seriously, just go watch Community.

Do you watch it? What's your favourite thing/line/episode/character???

  1. I have so many millions of reasons that I love this show. Chevy Chase is like an American icon, so JD and I knew we were going to tune in right from the start.

    My favorite stuff:
    Every paintball episode.
    Every Halloween episode.
Included: Chang calling everybody racist for assuming he's dressed as Michelle Kwan when he's really dressed as Dorothy Hammill.
Everything racists Pierce ACTUALLY says. (is season one the one where "Poer e will beat that in sixty seconds"? I cried from laughing so hard)

    1. And he beats it in like 32 seconds? YES. I watched the zombie Halloween episode the other night. AMAZINGNESS.

I honestly don't think I've seen Chevy Chase in anything since National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation, which we had on video a millionty years ago. So that was quite the brain adjustment!!

    1. Hahaha. I love that it autocorrected to utter gibberish.

    1. I laughed far more about the tiny nipples than it probably deserved. I'm not ashamed of this.

  4. This is seriously my favorite show right now so I'm thrilled someone else is watching it... just in time for NBC to run it into the ground. But still, glad to see its gaining some popularity, hopefully in time to keep it going!

    1. This is the problem with living in Australia. They show stuff all out of whack with the US and so it never really takes off here when it's on TV. And then it comes out on DVD and suddenly it has a cult following. (Mostly because the TV stations put things on at prime time for like three weeks, and if it doesn't succeed they move it to 2am!)

  5. I say bagel that way, too! And also "bag." People make fun of me for it! It's just how I talk, OK???

Glad to know there is a TV show that understands my problems.

    1. I'm not sure if that's "seriously you say it that way?" or "seriously people make fun of you for that?" but either way... yes. Mike used to laugh every time I said it until I gave him the Evil Death Glare.

I have no idea why I say it differently from other people; I can't even hear the difference well enough to be able to "correct" myself.

  6. I have only seen one episode - the one with the zombies at halloween. I wasn't super impressed, but I think that often happens to me when I catch something in the middle.

I need to start at the very beginning (it IS a very good place to start).

    1. Yeah, taken out of context I imagine the Halloween zombies episode would be pretty confusing!! I actually bought seasons 1 and 2 the other day because they were on sale at JB Hifi, so if you want to borrow it and watch from the beginning, just let me know!!

  7. Troy and Abed never fail to make me laugh.
    Also, Annie the Hoarder Monkey.

I love when a show starts something and then randomly continues that plot line throughout the season. It's like I'm privy to special information that people that haven't watched the whole show wouldn't get.

    1. YES. When they first brought the monkey in, I was like "Where the hell is this going??" but by the end of season 2 (which I've obviously finished already), it was solid gold win.
