*tap tap* Is this thing on?

So I realised this morning - as I seem to somewhat sporadically these days ("Sporadic means once in a while. Try using it in a sentence" <-- name that movie) - that I have a bunch of stuff to tell you guys, none of which is really an entire post worth of stuff, meaning I never seem to get around to blogging about. So here, have a set of bullet points. Wheeeeee!!

Ahem.
  • I have ONE more assignment left for the semester. It's 3,500 words, it's due in a week, and I haven't even started researching yet. Yay for procrastination?
  • I finally got a new phone. It has apps and touchscreen-y-ness and doesn't hoard my text messages for days and then deliver them at 4am, which, HURRAH. On the downside, I discovered yesterday that it's really sodding hard to type using a touchscreen phone on a moving tram. So I apologise in advance for any bizarre text messages/tweets you get from me.
  • My laptop gave me the blue screen of death last night. And this morning while I was trying to back everything up in case of FURTHER blue screen of death-y nonsense, it froze. So if my next post is very short and riddled with spelling mistakes, it'll be because my laptop has totally shat itself and I'm blogging from my phone.
  • If you can't find sugar at your local supermarket, it's because it was all used for Little Miss A's birthday party the other week.

I have no idea why this is sideways. And Picasa
won't let me rotate it. Just turn your head. Like an
owl. It will be appropriate (see below)

  • My BFF Char (we've now been friends for TWENTY FIVE YEARS, which is a truly terrifying concept) came over last week for an afternoon of baking shenanigans. We made chocolate chip cookie pie, English muffin bread, and an enormous mess in the kitchen. Mostly because the shortcrust pastry we made for the pie was a total fucking disaster that managed to be soggy and crumbly at the same time. I also neglected to take any photos of a) the process or b) the end products. Here's one I took of the last piece of pie, shortly before I shoved it in my face and made nomming sounds.
It tasted better than it looks...
  • Despite the lack of photos and the disaster of a pie crust, both the bread and the pie were delicious. I shall be making both again in the future, and will hopefully remember what a camera is for at that time.
  • Char brought me a plant as part of my birthday present. If I can manage to keep it alive for a year, I'll have crossed something else off my 101 in 1001 list. Considering her instructions for its care were "Basically, ignore it", things are looking good so far!
  • Contrary to appearances, I haven't forgotten about my Cookbook Challenge OR my 30 Days of Photography Challenge. I have every intention of picking both of them up again over the uni break.
  • Following on from Kirsti rewatches all of Dawson's Creek and has a lot of feelings about it, I've been rewatching The X-Files in the last few weeks. I actually own season 1. ON VHS. I'll blog about it a la Dawson's Creek eventually, but for now I can say that my thoughts can mostly be summed up as "Ahahahahahaha, LOOK AT THE COMPUTERS/PHONES!!!" and "OMFG. What is Scully wearing???" Aaaaah, 1993...
  • In a week and a half, Deidre and I will be having a very special Dessert Day. It's super exciting. You should see the amount of jumping up and down with excitement that's been going on. Seriously.
  • Alice, Emmy, Leah and I are planning a very nerdy "Everyone watches a particular episode of Doctor Who simultaneously" thing. It will be epic. There will be much tweeting. I will make sure this event actually happens.
  • I appear to have run out of chocolate. Send help immediately.
How are things with you guys? You know, non-movie watching, non-travel from four years ago, non-random stuff I found on the internet things??

K xx

  1. To aid in our Doctor Who live tweet, we should come up with a catchy and awesome hashtag. As a related side note, I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT!

As another side note, I'm sorry for your loss. If I knew your address, I would send you chocolate. How long does it take for things to get to Australia?

    1. About a week... It would probably be easier to get off my butt and walk to the supermarket, really!!

And YES. HASHTAG OF AWESOMENESS IS NEEDED.

  2. Ooh looking forward to the X-files post! I was rewatching them not that long ago too (I was nicely given the whole series on DVD) - except I stopped just before the episodes where I knew Mulder wasn't going to be in it much anymore. I did find Scully's earlier hair and outfits quite amusing.

    1. Good call on stopping before Mulder not being in it. I'm honestly not sure if I'll be able to make it through all ten seasons. I might only watch up to the end of season 3 or 4 and then abandon ship...

And I'm pretty sure the X-Files post won't be nearly as spectacular as the Dawson's Creek one...

  3. CLUELESS!

    THE MOVIE IS CLUELESS!

    ::eyes dart::

    Imma stop yellin' now. ;-)

I have seen Clueless, oh, only about a gazillion times since the first time I saw it at the cinemas in 1995. (When I was all of 10 years old, OMG!!) There are no words for how much I heart that movie.

The cakes all look marvellous! Nom nom nom!

I fear the blue screen of death...you would think the fact I fear it would mean I would back up more frequently, but no, you would be wrong. ;-)

And kick ass on that assignment!

    XOXO

    1. Thank you for knowing that. Really. THANK YOU.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who fears the blue screen of death. As for the assignment, I'm hoping I'll kick ass. But mostly at the moment, I'm procrastinating. Still... O.o

  4. I was looking at your photos and got to the sideways one...and I thought to myself "Ok..I see what they are...pretty awesome..no need to tilt my head"

    BUT THEN

as I read what you wrote underneath the photo, I found myself tilting my head against my will.

    Apparently I'm obedient.

    1. Hahahaha, excellent!!! I found myself doing it, even though I knew what the photo was. So it seemed appropriate to write something suggesting that others do likewise!

  5. Oh my gosh, that party spread looks totally amazing. I want it!

I am fearful of the blue screen of death. Or, rather, the Sad Mac of death. I got one on a web page recently and I freaked out and proceeded to back everything up. Twice.

    1. In a way, I think the Sad Mac of Death is worse than the blue screen of death. Because he just looks so miserable!! I've had the Sad Mac of Death on old iPods a few times.

And the party was pretty incredible. If filled with insanely sugar hyped children who were bouncing off the walls!!

  6. I'd love to comment, but your photos of all of that delicious food have made me so hungry that I have no choice but to go and eat my dinner.

    1. Haha, a fair call I think!! I was even more distraught by the lack of chocolate in the house last night after having to look at a million photos of cakes to decide which ones to upload...

  7. So weird... I am pret sure this is the fifteenth reference to the clueless/sporadically quote I've seen in the last week or so. One of which was by me on a friends blog.

    1. It really really doesn't. Although I have to get a new computer anyway, because we're moving to a new building at uni, and we HAVE to take our own computers because it's eco friendly so there aren't any computer labs. And our computers are meant to have a battery life of at least 4 hours because there aren't many power points/outlets. Mine has a battery life of 12 minutes... So as long as it can last out this assignment, it's all good!

And YES. IT WILL BE AMAZING. As Leah said, we really do need to come up with a hashtag for it...

  9. Everytime I say "sporatically" I think of Clueless. Oh childhood... And I'm totally down for the Dr Who Tweetocolpse.

  10. Seriously? I think you and Chris should get married and watch many DVDs/VHS together. Aside from Clueless and Dawson's Creek (which I doubt that he loves), you have EXACTLY THE SAME TASTE in things to watch.

Of course, you also both have awesome taste in girlfriends (in the sense that you and I have platonically shared a bedroom) :-D

    1. Hahahahaha, I know at least one person who would be happy with that arrangement. And it's not you, me or Chris!! ;)

  11. Twenty-five years?!?!? No, really? Umm, well, perhaps it has been that long...

I can attest to both the deliciousness and messiness of the pie, golly it was good! I'm glad you put the link up, because Luke has requested that I make the pie again!

Also, how did you make the plant look so good in that photo? I'm sure it wasn't that shiny and pretty when I gave it to you. You must be doing good things already!

    1. I put it in the sunshine. That's literally all I did to it!! Wheeeee, plant neglect!

I am determined to make a successful crust for that pie. I don't know how (probably by adding gluten!), but I WILL DO IT.
