NaBloPoMo and 30 Days of Photography

I'm sorry, but HOW is it November 1st already?! I'm pretty sure we should only be up to somewhere in June... July, at the absolute most. You know?

Anyway, today is an exciting day. Firstly, it's Melbourne Cup Day. Yup - we get a public holiday to watch a three minute horse race. Ain't Melbourne grand? Secondly, I made a spontaneous decision last night that I was going to compete in NaBloPoMo. That's National Blog Posting Month, if you're not up on your weird acronym lingo. And sure, I'm not in America, so the 'national' part is a little off. But who cares - I'm giving it a go anyway! So basically what it means is that I'll be posting every day in November. I apologise in advance if I run out of ideas and just resort to posting pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal or Doctor Who gifs.

I've also decided that I'm going to play along with a challenge I saw over on Angie's blog recently.

Just like I did with my 30 Days of Books earlier in the year, I'm not going to post it in 30 days straight. Because a) that's a little dull, b) Melbourne's weather at this time of year is inclement at best and I don't want to end up without a photo of something outside-y because there was a thunderstorm, c) that's cheating at NaBloPoMo, and d) I'm lazy.

So don't worry - you'll still be getting Movie Mondays, and the rest of my trip to the US, and some cooking, and probably a couple of 101 in 1001 posts. There'll just be 30 Days of Photography posts as well!

Which leads me to day 1 - a self portrait.

Wish me luck with NaBloPoMo! Is anyone else doing it this year?

K xx

  1. I'm doing it - but already challenged and it's only day one!

  2. This is such a great idea! I might follow suit with the 30 Days of Photography...let's see how long I can keep up!

  3. Good luck!! I'm not sure I could accomplish it - I'm having trouble coming up with one weekly post at the moment. I am considering another weird acronym one though - AcBoWriMo to write an academic book (or in my case some of my thesis) for this month. The photography stuff sounds interesting too!

  4. Deidre - oh dear... Perhaps you could make up adventures for Jorge?? ;)
Vanisha - Yay to following suit! :)
Lozzz - I actually sat down today and planned out what I'm going to write about for the next month. I'm not entirely sure if I'll stick to it or if I'll go off on a random nonsensical tangent! AcBoWriMo sounds like a great idea - like NaNoWriMo, but it makes your supervisors happy ;) Good luck!

Leave me a comment and I'll love you forever (except for spambots...)
