30 Days of Books - Day 16

So today, I woke up to find that it was 14 degrees. INSIDE MY BEDROOM. Needless to say, I was less than thrilled at the prospect of getting out of bed. And the temperature outside was just as bad - when I left the gallery at lunchtime to walk back to the office, the Bureau of Meteorology stated that the actual temperature was 9 degrees Celsius. But given the wind chill, the APPARENT temperature was -4 degrees Celsius  Minus four. MINUS FREAKING FOUR. (My phone's trusty converter function tells me that's 25 degrees F for those of you who don't speak metric)

And I got home earlier to find that it was now 13 degrees inside the house. Needless to say, hibernation is inevitable... (Yes, I know used to live in Toronto and deal with -30 degrees C regularly. I was a small child, and you can wear a snow suit and sport hat-hair in public when you're a small child)

Day 16 - Your favourite female character

Again, this one was a no brainer. Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld series. I know I keep harping on about Terry Pratchett, but it's my blog so y'all can just deal if you don't like the genius of Sir Terry. Anyway, Granny Weatherwax is awesome. She's a ridiculously powerful witch, but rarely uses magic, preferring instead to use 'headology'. And being a bit of a sneaky chiropractor... She frequently 'borrows' the minds of animals, effectively hitch hiking in their brains for a while. And she can disappear at will. Well, not disappear exactly. More blend into the furniture and make people not realise that she's there.

How can you not love a character who can make a bunch of vampires crave tea and who has to start her broomstick by running back and forth until the spell catches?! Exactly. I kind of want to be her when I'm old...
