Don't get me wrong, my little Olympus has served me incredibly well. And it's a very well travelled camera - the US (twice), Peru, Ecuador, the Galapagos, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Thailand, and various interstate trips. And as you can see, it's had kind of a hard life. (Those scratches up near the shutter button are from when I forgot I had it in my lap, and stood up, hurling it onto a cement footpath...) But it just wasn't cutting it any more. For starters, it's four years old. Plus, it has a shocking shutter delay, and takes forever to start up. And the autofocus has a tendency to focus on something random in the background rather than what you wanted it to focus on. Which was less than ideal...
So, Christmas money in hand, I went in search of a replacement. And came out with this:
Hello, beautiful. You make me happy.
And the best part is this - the instruction manual assumes that you're an idiot, and gives you step-by-step written AND pictorial instructions. Yay!! I'm sloooooowly learning how to use it. But mostly I'm in love with the continuous shutter motion, the fact that the flash doesn't take three years to recharge, and the fact that you can tell it what to focus on. Oh, and that you can set it on full auto if you're feeling lazy.
Now to sell my soul to the Devil in exchange for a 50-200mm lens and a macro lens, and my life will be complete... ;)
